Welcome to the 2024 St Johns Summer Swim League (SJSSL)!

My name is Kristen Vlaun, and I am your 2024 SJSSL League President.

Here are a few facts about me:

    • I swam on the Pleasantview Seahorses summer swim team in Kensington, Maryland from 1977-1990.
    • I swam on the Albert Einstein High School swim team from 1986-1990.
    • I swam distance free on the Radford University swim club from 1990-1994.
    • I coached for the Montgomery County Summer Swim League for the summers of 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994.
    • I completed in my first triathlon in 1995 in Corpus Christi, Texas and have completed in more than 30 triathlons in 11 different states!
    • I coached masters swim in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 2012-2014.
    • The Coast Guard moved us to Jacksonville in 2019, where our family joined the JCP Porpoises team.
    • I swim at 5:30 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the JCP Masters team and, when the water is a bit warmer, I swim with the Duval Ocean Swimmers at the Jax pier.

I would like to introduce and thank our 2024 SJSSL League Board who are all volunteers and have been working since October to make sure we have fun and safe 2024 season!

Here are a few things we wanted to share with you:

    • We are excited to welcome the Aberdeen Rays to our league, rounding us up to an even 10 teams!
    • Our SJSSL (https://stjohnssummerswimleague.swimtopia.com/) Swimtopia website has been updated for our 2024 season. You can find links to your local team, as well as our 2024 meet schedule and anything you never thought you might need to know.
    • Lastly, we have a few openings on our team boards and for coaches. If you are asked to help out, please jump in! I would not be the President of our league if I didn’t believe in our leagues mission and vision! We are all doing great things for our kids and the more support we have, the better we will be.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me. Thank you all for your support! I
